The medi foot and ankle supports are particularly kind to the skin thanks to the special fibre combination: breathable and odour-inhibiting materials transport moisture directly to the outside thanks to the integrated Clima Fresh function.

At the same time, the combination of compressive knitted fabric (CCL II) and other features helps to stabilise the ankle and reduce swelling. 

Comfortable handling of ankle supports from medi

The medi supports for the ankle and Achilles tendon are comfortable to use thanks to their clever details: Thanks to the elasticated material, the supports do not cut into the foot and can be worn all day long. The knitted fabric also makes them easy to put on and take off - and they sit securely on the foot. The enclosed donning aid made of balloon silk (not included with the medi elastic ankle support) also makes it easier for users to put on the supports. 

Achimed® Achilles tendon support with 3D silicone metatarsal pad

Achimed is a support for compressing and relieving the Achilles tendon and the surrounding tissue. It is made from a comfort knitted fabric with a higher transverse and longitudinal stretch that allows an extended relief zone in the instep area. The stretch zone at the upper edge also makes it easier to put on. The two-part and enlarged 3D silicone pad provides a gentle massage effect without putting pressure on the Achilles tendon. 

The enclosed wedges can be used to raise the heel, which can provide pleasant relief for acute Achilles tendinitis.The Achilles tendon support is used when soft tissue compression with local pressure pads is required on the Achilles tendon, such as with

• Acute and chronic Achilles tendon inflammation
• Pain in the distal area of the Achilles tendon (Achillodynia)
• Bursitis of the Achilles tendon (Achillobursitis)

Patients with a high instep in particular benefit from the Achimed's relief zone, which provides a comfortable fit in the sensitive instep area. The innovative knitted shape ensures a more precise fit thanks to the 90-degree angle, emphasised arch and extended underfoot. At the same time, the compressive knitted fabric (CCL II) stabilises and relieves pressure on the joint. The support can also improve the body's own perception (proprioception).

The Clima Comfort* technology immediately wicks moisture away from the surface of the skin - for a pleasantly dry feeling when wearing the Achilles tendon support. The fibre combination of high-tech fibres and natural eucalyptus fibres ensures high breathability and is gentle on the skin. The enclosed balloon silk donning aid makes it easier for users to put on the Achilles tendon support. The integrated Clima Fresh function has an odour-inhibiting effect.

This is achieved through special thread technology in the production process. * Scientifically tested by the French Institut IFTH1. The test result shows that Clima Comfort technology from medi guarantees climate exchange between the skin and the garment. medi achieved an outstanding total score with 11 out of 12 points.

Contraindications

Diseases or injuries of the skin in the area of use, especially with inflammatory symptoms (excessive warming, swelling or reddening).

Sensitivity and perfusion disorders of the legs or feet (e.g. in the case of diabetes).

Lymph outflow disorders, as well as unclear swellings of soft tissues, apart from the area of use.

How does it work?/Mode of action

Achimed causes a massage effect, which supports perfusion, by  interacting with compressive knitted fabric and the two integrated silicon inlays. This effect furthers the decline in swellings and bruises. Irritation and pain are relieved. Simultaneously the muscular control and the inherent stabilisation of the ankle joint improve. Supports cause the greatest effect  during physical exercise.

Donning/fitting instructions

Wrap over the upper part of the  support till the outside edge of the silicon inlay. Take hold off the support in the middle of the silicone inlays and pull it over the foot till the heel part fits tightly. Turn back the upper part of the  support and correct the fit if  necessary. It fits properly if the seam runs over the middle of the heel and the Achilles tendon is noticeably  embedded in the groove in the inlay. IMPORTANT: always wear both supports simultaneously in your shoes to ensure the same leg length. Once the acute symptoms subside the  supports should be used alternately (e.g. every 2 hours) as you see fit and not worn gradually to accustom the tendon to normal loads.
